In March 1943, the momentum in the Pacific had shifted, but Japan still held a powerful defensive network across New Guinea. This full-length documentary follows the Allied campaign from the destruction of a Japanese reinforcement convoy in the Battle of the Bismarck Sea to the capture of Finschhafen and the desperate counterattack at Scarlet Beach. After the air battles of Operation I-Go, Australian and American forces began grinding toward Salamaua through some of the harshest terrain of the war. The fighting at Bobdubi Ridge, Mubo, Mount Tambu and Roosevelt Ridge became part of a larger deception, drawing Japanese reinforcements away from Lae. That set the stage for Operation Postern,
