Irma Grese became one of the most infamous female guards in the Nazi concentration camp system. Serving at Ravensbrück, Auschwitz-Birkenau and later Bergen-Belsen, she gained a reputation among prisoners for her cruelty and her prominent role within the SS camp administration.
