In 1931, Mahatma Gandhi travelled to London for talks with the British government on India’s future. During his stay, he was hosted by his friend and supporter, Muriel Lester. In a 1957 interview with the BBC, Lester reflected on Gandhi’s campaign to end British rule through civil disobedience, his efforts to calm tensions during Hindu-Muslim riots, and the principles of non-violent protest that inspired millions around the world. #MahatmaGandhi #Gandhi #GandhiJayanti #MahatmaGandhiArchive #GandhiArchive #IndianHistory #IndiaHistory #IndianIndependence #FreedomStruggle #HistoryOfIndia #India #Gandhiji #HistoricFootage #ArchiveFootage Click here to subscribe to our channel 👉🏽 https://bbc.in/3whmDp3 ----------------------------------- This is the official BBC News India channel.
