Capt Smit Machchhar from India is being hailed as a “hero” after he was stabbed on an Israel-bound flight on Wednesday. Capt Machchhar was attacked by another pilot onboard a Flydubai flight bound for Tel Aviv, forcing the plane to divert to Saudi Arabia. He was taken to a hospital in Tubak City, north-western Saudi Arabia, where he remains in a stable condition according to the Indian embassy in Riyadh. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that Capt Machchhar “saved the lives of 174 people” and prevented “a catastrophic mid-air disaster”. Capt Machchhar grew up in Mumbai, where his parents still live. He joined SpiceJet, an Indian airline, in 2011 before moving to Dubai eventually. #Flydubai #FlyDubaiPilot #PilotAttack #AviationNews #Dubai #FlightSafety #Aviation #dubaiflightupdate Click here to subscribe to our channel 👉🏽 https://bbc.in/3whmDp3 ----------------------------------- This is the official BBC News India channel.
